How much protection do water-resistant raincoats offer?

Our water-resistant raincoats are made with woven material and non-waterproof stitching - items that are water-resistant will repel the effects of water to a point. The effects of heavy rain pressure and longer exposure to rain will allow some of the rain through.There are openings on our dog rainwear to attach a leash to a harness underneath which can allow for a small amount of water to pass through as well. Do dogs need raincoats?

Not all pups require a raincoat to be safe and comfortable, but rainwear for dogs can be helpful to keep your pup happy and allow them to play outside for longer! Sometimes, a raincoat with some warmth can be helpful for transitional weather or wet climates. An added benefit of dog rain protection is less cleanup due to the mud and rain protection!

Is the Slush Suit a raincoat?

There are multiple types of rainwear for dog walking. The Slush Suit is water-resistant and will keep your pup dry in light rain! It is also a great dog rain outfit for protecting their coat from mud and slush and prevents snowballs from forming in the hair for easier clean-up. How do I measure a dog for a coat?

Measuring your dog is the most accurate way to ensure the right fit of any dog rain outfit! The measurements we use are the chest girth (around the widest part of the chest), back length (from the collar to the base of the tail), and the neck circumference (around the neck). How do I know if the fit of the dog rainwear is right?

In an ideal fit of any rainwear for dog walking, the coat ends at the base of the tail and is not gaping in the chest. Many times, there will be multiple sizes that can be functional for your pup, but we suggest prioritizing the fit in the chest to keep them warmer and avoid any accidents! It’s okay for the jacket to be a few inches short of the tail or have a little extra room in the chest as long as they’re comfortable and have a full range of motion.
